Om March 22nd, Belgian comic giant Hermann died. He was the winner of the Grand Prix d’Angoulême in 2017, one year before Cosey.
In dBD no. 201 (July/August), some colleagues look back at Hermann. Among them, Cosey.
Cosey tells that Hermann and he go back a long time: Hermann invited him to saty at his home whenever Cosey visited Brussels. He tells us that even if Hermann was a man with sombre views and strong opinions, beneath the surface it was a gentle, amiable person.
Although Cosey loves colour and Hermann is one of the most prominent artists to embrace ‘direct colour’ in the 1990s, Cosey admires his black-and-white pages, that make him think of artists like Alberto Breccia and Milton Caniff. His page of choice is a page from the B&W edition of ‘Les Touirs de Bois-Maury’.
Last, Cosey reminds us that Hermann was an excellent guitar player.
