Good news for Spanish reading fans of Cosey: the Mickey album will be in stores on 28 november 2017, published by Planeta Cómic. The title is one accent different from the italian one: ‘Una misteriosa melodía’.

Regard Bouddhiste
In the September 2017 issue of the french magazine ‘Regard Bouddhiste’, you will find an interview with Cosey.
The interview doesn’t focus so much on Buddhism in the works of Cosey itself, but it does focus on the issue of ‘creativity’: the moment of inspiration and surprise and how to invent a story. Even if Cosey has talked much about his way of working in earlier interviews, this one certainly sheds new light on his thoughts.

La Montagne & Alpinisme
In the autumn issue (nr 269-3/2017) of the magazine ‘La Montagne & Alpinisme’, you can read an interview with Cosey, title ‘Au-delà des frontières’ (which can be translated more or less as ‘Across borders’).
It is a portrait, following Cosey’s career from its early beginnings, working for an advertsing company, his apprenticeship with Derib, the Jonathan albums, ‘Bouddha d ‘Azur’ until ‘Calypso’… Cosey speaks about his love for mountains and his travels to Tibet. He explains why drawing mountains is so fascinating – shapes and forms that are abstract and figurative art at the same time.
For experts on Cosey, the interview doesn’t contain much news – if you are interested in the man behind the comics, it is a good read.

Calypso (5) – the album cover
Finally, a good visual of the Calypso cover has been published by Futuropolis.
Of course, we all like the colours of Cosey… but this double page in the Calypso album convinced me that in Calypso I won’t miss colours.
Calypso (4) – Le Monde
On 27 july, Le Monde published no less than 55 pages of ‘Calypso’, the new album of Cosey that will appear in bookstores on 12 october. The tiny image above is probably the album cover, but I could’t find confirmation of this on the Futuropolis webiste or online bookstores. Personally, I hate to read pre-publications and I only took a quick look: it looks marvelous!
You can read the first 55 pages of Calypso on the website of Le Monde: click here.
Calypso (3) – Le Monde pre-publishes parts of Calypso
French newspaper Le Monde will pre-publish large parts of the new Cosey album Calypso. This summer, Le Monde runs a series of five pre-publications of comics by well-known comic artists like Zep and Taniguchi. On 27 july, you can find several pages of the new story in the paper.
For those of you who have patience or who want the complete story at once: the album will appear in october.

Calypso (2) – First summary
The website leslibraires.fr is the first one with a introduction/summary of Calypso, that will appear this october. Personally, I don’t like to read summaries before reading the book itself, and that is why I only post this image of the website with a text that is difficult to read.
If you are too curious and want to read the summary, go to this website.

Le Petit Larousse illustré
Every year since 1905, a new edition of the famous french encyclopedic dictionary ‘Le Petit Larousse’ is published. 21 June, the 2018 edition will be in the bookstores. Larousse announces some 150 new words, and 50 new entries of personalities, like the new french president Emmanuel Macron.
One of the personalities to be introduced in this 2018 editions is… Cosey. As yet, I don’t know if he is listed under his artist name or under his real name Cosendai.
Winning the Grand Prix of Angoulême is one thing, making it to the de Larousse is quite another kind of canonisation…

Mural
If you visit Switzerland this summer, you could go to the Place du 1er août in Lancy. There, you see this mural, based on the iconic cover of ‘À la recherche de Peter Pan’.
A picture made during the official unveiling, yesterday. Right in the middle you can see Cosey. This photo gives a good impression of the huge size of the mural.
Looking for more pictures of the mural, I found this one of the ‘Work in progress’ of the mural.
Jonathan in Italy
La Gazzetto dello Sport, the famous italian sports newspaper is also the publisher of a series of classic comic albums. The entire Jonathan series will be published by them, in eight volumes, each containing two stories.
More information on the site of La Gazzetto.
Lumière Tibétaine
21 april, at the Ferme de la Buisson (France), the artist Muma made this work, based on a drawing of Cosey. It was made of 20.000 candles, put in place by 300 volunteers.

Jonathan Intégrale 15-16
This is the cover of the 6th Jonathan Intégrale, containing the volumes 15 (Atsuko) and 16 (Celle qui fut). It is somewhat different from the dummy cover I posted a few months ago. The album will be in shops in june.
Calypso (1) – a new album
‘Calypso’ is the title of Cosey’s new album that will appear this autumn. The album will be black-and-white, a première for Cosey, and it will published by Futuropolis.
Amazon France announces the album for 12 october 2017, a date that seems ‘not impossible’, according to Cosey himself.

Mickey to Scandinavia
Good news for our Scandinavian friends: the Mickey album will appear in danish and swedish, both titled ‘En mystisk melodi’ (the cover above is the danish one, below the swedish cover). The Danish edition will be published by Egmont publishers. I am not sure if the album is already available in bookstores.

L’Hebdo: final issue
Last Saturday, the last issue of swiss magazine L’Hebdo appeared. In the past, Cosey has contributed drawings to the magazine. This is his farewell drawing.
