At this moment, you can visit a small exposition in Lausanne with the results of the colouring competition ‘Des couleurs pour Cosey’.
The jury: Boris Bruckler (Lausanne Library), Cuno Affolter (conservator – Centre BD de la Ville de Lausanne), Cosey and Sébastien Riond (painter).
Cosey presents the prize winners. Unfortunately, I have no picture yet of the first prize winner.
The overview of the expo. On the left, the drawings of the participants. On the right, the drawings of some professional artists, like Tom Tirabosco, Sébastien Riond and José Roosevelt.
And then this one… As a ‘reporter’ of ‘The World of Cosey’, I don’t like to make news about myself here. But I am proud to be in the Lausanne expo myself. This is the page that I coloured. It is exposed in the ‘professionals’ section of the exposition.

Lombard has a sales action, where you can get a Jonathan mug when you buy two albums from a special selection. I don’t know which bookshops do participate in the action… good luck!

The seasons card for Christmas 2012/New Year 2013, made by Cosey for a company named Sherpa.
In about two weeks, it is the long weekend of the famous Festival International de BD in Angoulême (31 january till 3 february). This year, the selection procedure of the ‘Grand Prix’ has been changed. Before, the old winners of the Grand Prix elected the new winner. This year, a committee has nominated 16 artists, and all artists with an accreditation for the festival may vote for one of the candidates. Among the nominees: Cosey.
Manu Larcenet, himself a nominee, has asked his colleagues to vote for Cosey. . I will translate a few of the very kind words he writes about Cosey: ‘As a kid, I learnt from reading his works, that you were not obliged to insert car pursuits, guns, space ships, dragons or naked women to make great books. That you could try to tell about nature, about humans, about emotions… thing that are very rare in comics, et that suited my tastes perfectly.’
In 2011, Cosey worked a some months in New Delhi (colouring the pages of Atsuko). I had totally missed this article in Passages (nr. 56), the magazine of ProHelvetia, sponsor of the ‘artist in residence’ project.
You can download a pdf of the magazine here. Choose number 56 and go to pages 32.
The ‘Centre BD’ and the city of Lausanne invite all swiss colorists to participate in a coloring competition ‘Des couleurs pour Cosey’ (‘Colours for Cosey’). The assignment is to add colours to page 32 of a new Jonathan album (number 16). On 2 february 2013, the winners will be honored on a festive day of the libraries of the Vaud district.
This is the page to be coloured: a first preview of the new Jonathan!

The december issue of the magazine ‘Grands Reportages’ follows our comic heroes in their travels around the world. With Jonathan, we visit the Himalayas: Srinagar and Leh, in the north of India.

This drawing was made in cooperation with the swiss company Aprotec and Librairie Raspoutine in Lausanne. As a poster (offset print, 50 x 70 cm, signed by Cosey), it will be sold at Raspoutine. Aprotec will use the drawing in a calendar they sent to their business relations. On the drawing you see some of the touristic highlights of Switzerland.

Last weekend, Cosey was crowned ‘Grand Boum 2012’ at the comics festival BD Boum in Blois (France). He won the prize for his entire works. As ‘Grand Boum’, Cosey will draw the poster for the festival 2013, and during that festival there will be an exposition.

I proudly announce a new dossier in ‘The World of Cosey’: Translations. I have tried to collect all Cosey albums in all languages. Of course, I need your help to make additions, to repair mistakes and to keep it up to date.

Comic legend Hugo Pratt died in 1995. Apparently, there is a conflict between Pratt’s children and the society that manages the author’s rights. One of the children, Silvina, has founded a supporting committee. To raise money, there will be an exposition at Galerie 9ème Art in Paris, from 4 till 11 october 2012. Many colleagues of Pratt have made a contributions to this sales-expo. This is the contribution made by Cosey.
A great consequence of maintaining this site is the contact with other ‘collectionneurs’ and fans of Cosey. One of them discovered this disc cover from 1971 with a cover design of Cosey (then 20 years old). The other one then found a colour image of the cover on i-Tunes, where you can listen to the music. Isn’t it a nice, happy cover?

In ‘Alpes Magazine’ no. 136 (august-september 2012), Cosey is interviewed about his love for the Alps. He talks about his youth, his friendship with Derib and about ‘À la recherche de Peter Pan’.
